Patrick A. Nee, FRCS, FRCP, FRCEM, FFICM

Patrick Nee is a Consultant in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine at Whiston Hospital, Merseyside. He qualified from Liverpool University and has held a number of posts in UK hospitals in several branches of medicine including general internal medicine, anaesthesia, general orthopaedic and hand surgery, critical care and emergency medicine. He was appointed to his Consultant post in 1994. He became the first Visiting Professor of Emergency Medicine at Liverpool John Moores University in 2010.

 

Professor Nee has specialist interest in the pathophysiology of injury and the resuscitation and immediate critical care of critically ill and injured adults and children. He is an accredited instructor in advanced trauma life support, advanced life support and advanced paediatric life support. He has published numerous papers in peer reviewed journals. He has authored one text book and four chapters and has sat on Department of Health and NICE Committees developing national standards for emergency and critical care medicine, including the recent reconfiguration of trauma services.

 

Professor Nee has considerable experience in all aspects of emergency and critical care medicine. He receives instructions in matters of personal injury and clinical negligence from claimant and defendant organisations. He is instructed to prepare reports on around 500 cases a year, about a third of which are concerned with the low speed defence. He has assisted the Court as an expert witness on numerous occasions and supports other expert witnesses in the production of reports for claimants and defendants.
